Because of the sinking of what was once the worlds finest ships, many new safety regulations came into play such as new laws and changes. People became more aware and prepared for the possibilities of disasters that could happen.

                                                                               Modern Effects

What Changed:                                                        Why/How:

Shipping Routes Shipping routes were changed, moving them further south to avoid iceberg collisions. (tc.engr.wisc.edu)
Lifeboats Because there was not nearly enough lifeboats to accompany the passengers on Titanic, a law was made that states the number of lifeboats required depends on the weight of the ship and the number of passengers. (tc.engr.wisc.edu)
Searchlights

There must also be many searchlights and binoculars in case of emergency because the crew aboard Titanic could not spot the iceberg until it was too late.              (tc.engr.wisc.edu)

Lifeboat drills

Wireless radios on 24/7

Because it took so long to board the lifeboats on Titanic, lifeboat drills must be made shortly before leaving port to  prepare passengers for any need to board the lifeboats. (tc.engr.wisc.edu)

Many of Titanic's passengers could have been saved by a nearby ship, the Carpathia if only its wireless radios were turned on. Because of this, a law was made stating that all wireless radios aboard ships must be monitored at all times. (tc.engr.wisc.edu)
